Dinah Ortiz is an intellectual property litigator with substantial experience representing technology companies in patent, copyright, and trade secret matters. Dinah helps clients protect their intellectual property involving a range of technologies, including computer hardware and software.

  • Defended award-winning digital signage software company in a patent and copyright case dealing with digital wayfinding technology—in particular, systems and methods for programming and displaying directions for navigating between two map locations (D. Colo.)
  • Defended global provider of voice and data recording solutions in a case involving patent that included features such as preventing unauthorized access to the recording; automated identification of sensitive information; and starting and stopping the recording to avoid recording sensitive information (S.D.N.Y.).
  • Represented plaintiff in asserting patent claims against a medical device company involving devices for endoscopic vein harvesting (N.D. Cal.)
  • Defended Chinese manufacturer of unmanned aerial technology against patent infringement claims involving features of drones, in particular a system for controlling the drone using target tracking and a platform for interchangeably mounting the drone (C.D. Cal.)
  • Defended a US-based multinational software corporation in an infringement case involving patents directed to methods and systems for automated pricing of the components used in a construction plan created with an architectural design tool, like CAD programs (E.D. Tex.)
  • Defended a US-based multinational software corporation in a patent case involving memory and storage technology (E.D. Tex.)
  • Defended a wind energy company in a case alleging criminal trade secret misappropriation of source code for wind turbines (E.D. Wis.)
  • Represented plaintiff, an automotive brake manufacturer, in a case alleging copyright and trade secret misappropriation involving technology related to CAD drawings for brake components (N.D. Ill.)
