Genesis Shin

Genesis Shin is an Associate in the Firm’s Litigation Group, where her practice focuses on intellectual property enforcement and litigation.

Genesis has experience in the areas of intellectual property, regulatory research, and civil litigation. As an associate with Thoits Law Firm, Genesis serves clients in a variety of complex litigation matters, with an emphasis on intellectual property disputes. Before joining Thoits Law, Genesis gained experience in regulatory compliance matters with Buckley LLP. Genesis also served as a Student Attorney at the National Association of the Deaf, where she assisted on civil litigation matters, with a focus on disability rights issues.

Genesis is a graduate of University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law. During law school, she served as clinic assistant to Professor Caroline Jackson in the Civil Rights for Persons with Disabilities Clinic. Genesis earned her B.A. in Ethnic Studies from the University of Hawai'i at Mānoa, where she acted as a professor’s assistant in Ethnic Studies courses and actively participated in community organizations preserving and promoting indigenous cultural practices.

In addition to her legal work, Genesis is involved in community service. She volunteers with the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles and actively supports grassroots organizations including the Women’s Fund of Hawaiʻi and the Disability Community Resource Center in Los Angeles, California.
