Steve joined Thoits, Love,
Hershberger & McLean in 1974. In 30 years he has built a practice
around strategic counseling on employment, business, construction
and real estate transactions and litigation, including alternative
dispute resolution and appeals. Steve has been a lecturer for the
Continuing Education of the Bar (CEB) in civil procedure, employment,
and wrongful termination, and has been a contributing author to the
CEB on employment law and wrongful termination. He authored “Sexual
Harassment in Professional Relationships: A New Statute and New Questions”
CEB California Business Law Reporter 216, March 1996, co-authored
"Construction Defect Litigation: The Playing Field Has Changed
A Navigational Guide to Senate Bill 800" CEB Real Property
Law Reporter 106, May 2003, served as an author of the 2004 update
of the CEB publication Advising California Employers, Second Edition
and consulted on the publication "Advising California
Common Interest Communities" CEB, 2003. Steve is a graduate
of Willamette University College of Law, where he was an editor of
the Law Journal. He has served as president of the Palo
Alto Area Bar Association, chair of the YMCA
of the Mid-Peninsula, commissioner and board member of the Los
Altos AYSO, chair of the
El Camino YMCA, community mediator for the
Los Altos Mediation Program, and a member of the board of the
Los Altos Educational
Foundation.
