Steve joined Thoits, Love,
Hershberger & McLean in 1983, after graduating magna cum laude
from Santa Clara University Law School. He is a shareholder with the
firm’s Business
Group, and his practice focuses on applying creative and practical
legal solutions to corporate business transactions and the highly
technical areas of income taxation and employee benefits, and counseling
numerous privately-held businesses and their owners on the legal challenges
faced in the formation, operation, and growth of their business entities.
Steve represents numerous sponsors and fiduciaries of 401(k) plans,
ESOPs, other qualified and nonqualified retirement plans, and welfare
benefit plans. His experience also includes management and oversight
of client representation in litigation and administrative proceedings
before the IRS and state tax agencies involving controversial tax
and employment benefit matters. Steve is a regular speaker for a variety
of professional and civic organizations on employee benefits and tax-related
subjects.
